This special bottling of Whistlepig Old World was hand blended by our staff and chosen for its exceptional character. The aromas from the glass are delicately layered with tart cherry, allspice, fig, cinnamon and dried fruit. The palate starts out light, but builds up with a gentle spice and sweet flavors reminiscent of golden raisin, fruitcake and ume plum. More herbaceous spice box flavors appear from the rye base as the wine finish takes hold once again and adds a jammy element heading into the finish. The finish is all buttered toast with fig jam, anise, nutmeg and mint. (Pair this one with hard cheeses like well-aged cheddar or comte.
