Wine Enthusiast 95 Points This small-batch Tennessee whiskey is a complex one to savor. The aroma opens with vanilla sweetness; given a few minutes to open in the glass, it expands to old leather and caramel. The palate similarly navigates between richness and dry flavors that suggest an older whiskey is in the blend: gingerbread, toffee and mocha wend into a long, drying finish laced with espresso, leather and black pepper.
Aged between 10-12 years, this 86-proof gem provides a consistently smooth taste, perfect balance, rich amber color and a hint of vanilla. Aided by charcoal mellowing and the slow aging process, these distinct characteristics create a super-premium whisky in a class of its own.
The nosing passes find attractive scents of hazelnut, wax paper, lime, peanut butter, citrus peel and unsalted butter. The palate entry showcases the peanut quality but adds a touch of charred oak; the taste at midpalate becomes more bacon fat-like and smoky, with nuances of palm oil, nut paste and cream.
